Genuine Lee Peppy by Dudes Genuine San
"Thought you might like to see my mare, Genuine Lee Peppy... She's a wonderful horse, she's got a lot of try and she's super athletic - I just love her. She's double registered AQHA/APHA, out of Hello Nurse (Royal Lancers Mark)." (Hello Nurse was a brown mare with very little white)

From Lori Deobold, SK (spring, 2009)
Just wanted to let you know that The Jewel Snipper mare has a beautiful Root Beers Boots colt...started off a pale sorrel colour but baby hair is shedding and he looks to be the colour of Boots. A white back pastern and a tiny star and snip...where'd all that white from his dad go?? :) And such an awesome temperament. We had to treat him for 5 days with Excenel for navel infection and he loved us through it all and still does.
Lady has a Big Doc filly such a cutie...tiny star...
Lefty foaled Sunday morning...a VERY long legged Big Doc colt...star. He's very pretty and BIG!! .....
All three foals are very correct and so pretty...just what the Sandy Ridge foals here have always been. so nice!!
Our 4 year old Big Doc out of Kat has a really nice Jewel Snipper colt...again when it comes to temperament you just can't beat those Big Doc and Jewel Snipper foals...they're the best. The 4 year old gelding out of Lady and Big Doc has gone to a ranch family in the Cypress Hills area and will be earning a living being the wife's rope horse!! The full brother 2 year old gelding is just down the road at Herbert and is in a battle between the wife for a barrel prospect and the husband for a team roping prospect. I'm not sure who'll win...maybe they will share!! The Turner kids at Shamrock still have the big Doc mare out of K and she's the horse they put the rookies on. We have kept the full sister 3 year old and have bred her to Boon....... |

From Tasha Turner, Calgary, AB regarding her 2008 Crimson Jess x KR Especially Sixy colt
Today was amazing! I took my Crimson Jess colt and my other two horses into the indoor arena and gave him his first 'being tied up' lesson. He stood tied with no fuss while I saddled and rode both my mares. He never pulled back or acted up,it was as though he had been tied up lots before! He just stood and watched us very patiently. His temperament is so nice, nothing seems to bother him. He is penned in his own paddock adjoining Sables. That way he gets his ration and hay to himself, with his own shelter. Today when he saw me coming, he was waiting at the gate for me - such a sweetheart..... |

Update on Docs Paradise mare, Kilo Deck from her owner and 2008 CGRA Barrel Racing Champion, Dode Sears:
I just can’t say enough about these bloodlines..I would also have to mention 'heart'. It’s hard to describe 'heart' but this horse has it. She’s overcome several major injuries; she’s not the biggest, she’s not the strongest but she’s got 'try' and 'heart' that just doesn’t stop.

Hi Doug and Carol!
Thought I would send a quick update! :) Girl (Sail on Fast Chic, daughter of Fast Moon Chic) is currently running here in BC, and doing fantastic at it!! This was the year everything 'clicked'. I had to laugh at another owners comment on how fast moon chicks offspring 'talk' sure is true!! She nickers at everything!
Next year will be the BCRA rodeo, can't wait!!
Thanks again for a wonderful mare!

Here is a photo of Harley (age 2) and Scarlett (age 1) with Crystal.
Harley is riding and is very quiet. He is turned out now to finish growing.
We adore these two... they both have Playboy's conformation and their mom's heads and coloring. They have great temperaments and will be wonderful barrel/ show horses. We took Harley to the Zone show in August for a halter class and he brought home a ribbon. He is very cool about everything."

The girls are doing a few little britches rodeos, barrels and goat tail tying but are pretty busy going to BCBRA barrel races with mom and team ropings with Dave. They can't wait for me to start their DGS (Dudes Genuine San) baby (GG) next year.

... from Trina Swerbus who rides Marthas Ebony Moon, 3 x Futurity finalist
Ebony has had a very strong year. I am so proud of her. We have had some tough breaks at a few of the derbies this year, but all in all she has ran strong and consistent. ... Stettler Derby which was a huge regulation pattern, Ebby did great again. She finished 7th at the Derby. They only pay to 6th hole, so we just missed out, but it was tough competition, and Ebony ran great and was absolutely consistent. The 'Fast Moon Chics' really shone in Stettler. In the first go, there was 3 in the top 15. Kerry Maynes, Mary Ann Stoney, and me and Ebby. I would have loved to have taken a picture of them all together. Kerry's gelding and Ebony look very much alike. They are certainly noticed - all the Fast Moon Chics. There is a new one out there too that I really like. It is Laurie Breeses horse Marthas Fast Zeus... a gorgeous gelding. She had him at Red Deer.

7 foaled April 27 - coal black Fast Moon Chic colt and not a white hair! He is adorable... I don't know if your Fast Moon Chics "talk" but my two mares nicker at everything! Anyway I found this colt about 10:00 pm and got hold of him to take him into the barn - he nickered! He seems to be following his sisters' talkative ways!
Anyway - how can you tell we're pretty excited!

Allyson Gillespie, Missoula, MT writes...
About my Crimson Jess filly... I named her "SHES JESS A HOTTIE". She looks very much like her sire right now. Short, powerful back, long underline and very muscled hind quarters. She's definitely a bigger boned horse than her mom which is good. She has a really nice disposition and is nice to work with... I wasn't sure what kind of a colt I was going to get because her mother is skittish and doesn't really like people much - very standoffish. She's also a quirky mare subject to doing bizarre things and spooking at stuff she's seen a million times. She's the type of horse who would react and then think.
But nothing nothing seems to bother my filly. For example, a month ago, my husband hired a guy to come out and blow out the irrigation. One of them was near Kaylee and it went off like Old Faithful. She didn't spook at all. My other horse, who isn't normally spooky went into a blind panic and tore her shoulder open on a T-Post. Kaylee, on the other hand, thinks and doesn't really react. I was really proud of Kaylee because I wasn't sure what she was going to do.

Crystal Christman, comments:
....We started our Dude's Genuine San this summer and she has turned out to be one of those "born broke" horses; she is so calm and willing to please. Merryanne keeps telling us how thrilled she is with her Fast Moon Chic out of Raven, I'm very excited to see her run in the futurities! Brad is going to start her sister soon, he's just finishing the round pen.... can't wait to get done school!
... your website is appreciated and I have had more than a few calls from it (we just need to arrange for some baby boys next time)

Just wanted to pass onto you how much I am enjoying the filly by Fast Moon Chic...she is so willing and very smart! I can't wait to futurity her...does she fall under any of your bonuses? Also, the mare I am riding for Crystal (Millionaire Playboy) is really coming along-she has a lot of talent could really excel....

Kyla Krisa from Kamloops writes about her mare, Sail on Fast Chic, daughter of Fast Moon Chic:
Girl's an amazing horse, I love her to pieces! She's out of Ms Double Bunny. She's still being patterned but is incredibly smart and quick! She runs in any type of ground and gives it her all! She's doing really well and i'm very proud to own a Fast Moon Chic daughter!
I look forward to one day meeting you and thank you for breeding an awesome barrel racing prospect!

I love my Dudes Genuine San baby! He is the most level headed sweet minded horse on the place. I have no trouble with him ever. He was very easy to train and has never offered once to buck. I am just looking into cowhorse lessons on him as he naturally tracks cattle on his own. He was playing with another colt and somehow popped the gate into the pen with the heifers. Next thing I know he is trotting around after them. I called him and he came barrelling back.
Barrels might be a possibility as he is very fast. I will also be taking him out on his first mountain trip this summer. I'll keep you updated. I will definitley keep you in mind on the purchase of my next horse. I'll send you a pic after he finishes shedding his winter fluff.
Thanks a bunch!

Lori Deobald of Hodgeville, Saskatchewan reports:
"We've received a lot of compliments on the yearling Big Doc (Dudes Genuine San) filly out of Cedarlea Kat Sass (Two Eyed Twister daughter)...she has grown so much this fall...everyone thinks she's a two year old!! She's a character as are all of our Big Doc's...when I was fencing I never knew what she'd carry around, hammer, fence pliers, gloves...you name it!! Personality and I just can't say enough about their great attitudes!!"
Lori & Garner Deobald have consistently bred multiple mares to Dudes Genuine San, selling most of the offspring through their annual production sale. |
If you've bought a foal from Sandy Ridge Stallion Station, we'd love to hear how he/she is progressing. Drop us a line!
